I've changed my review. The young guy at the counter is actually quite nice, and the room is not too bad. There's some cutlery, dishes and towels, plus a balcony. Getting here by public transport wasn't bad either.

I came to MiCampus as an exchange student for a three-month stay. I've completed 1.5 months and still have another 1.5 months to go, but this has become one of my worst living experiences. Instead of feeling safe and supported, I've felt frustrated and uncomfortable. At 8.45 AM, repeated knocking woke me. I clearly shouted for the person not to come in, but a cleaner unlocked the door and entered without permission. I was shocked and felt completely disrespected. I politely asked them to come back the next day, but they refused and rudely insisted on cleaning right then. Because of the language barrier, I went to reception to explain. The chubby woman with curly hair and glasses handled it very poorly. She dismissed my concerns about staff entering my room without consent, saying it was fine because they were “just cleaners.” She also said she personally wouldn't mind strangers entering her room, which was irrelevant and unprofessional. When I asked if the cleaning could happen later that day or the next day, she denied the service altogether. She said that if I didn't accept it then, I would be treated as having refused it and would have to wait another 15 days for the next scheduled cleaning. Cleaning is only done once every 15 days, and I'm paying for it as part of an expensive stay. I asked for a small rescheduling, not to skip it. Their response felt like a threat: take the cleaning on their terms now, or lose the service. The rushed cleaning also left my personal belongings in a shocking state. My own bolster, which I brought from home, was put on the floor beside the dustbin. I had to pick it up and dust it off myself. My blanket and pillow were also in direct contact with the floor while they cleaned, which is unhygienic for bedding I sleep with every night. (refer to the attached images, censored because i care about their privacy 🥰) To recap, a staff member entered my room while I was inside without permission, reception refused to acknowledge or take responsibility for it, I was denied paid cleaning after asking for a minor schedule change, and the cleaning I later saw was rushed and unhygienic. MiCampus doesn't respect students' privacy or comfort. You're forced to accept their schedule, and asking for flexibility is treated as unreasonable. Management needs to take responsibility and train staff properly. Nobody should feel unsafe or ignored where they live. I strongly advise others to find accommodation that values basic respect, privacy and professionalism.

At checkout, I had to wait for the man at reception to finish courting a young woman. He spent close to 15 minutes outside talking to her. When he came back, he just told me, “leave the card key at the desk…” I'd arrived early and was allowed to store my luggage until check-in, but the woman was very unpleasant. She didn't greet me and stared at me with what looked like “disgust.” The same treatment continued at check-in. A guest waiting in line confirmed she'd treated him the same way.

After nearly 400km on the Camino Del Norte, I arrived in Bilbao on a stretched budget. I'm in my 40s and have stayed in much higher-end places, but for the money this was fantastic. You're on your own here, there's no service, but it's great for independent people with some cop-on. Muchas gracias, Micampus! I see people complaining that it didn't meet their expectations for a womantic weekend away. Awe 😥 If you really loved each other, you'd be at the Ritz Carlton for an occasion 🤣 In summer, service in Bilbao starts at about 200 a night...🤣 It's absolutely class for what it is and what you pay.
