Hotel Blaucel

The rooms felt dated and could do with an update. A fridge and tea-making facilities would have helped too. Still, we loved Blanes and the hotel’s location, and we’d definitely return. The food in the restaurant was fabulous, with different choices at lunch and dinner and something for everyone. Mr Angel and Stuart were very accommodating. The entertainment was a real highlight: activities throughout the day, a kids’ club and disco, then different entertainment every night. Alex and Lucia deserve a special shout-out. They’re wonderful at their jobs, and all the children loved them. We normally explore and go out, which we did, but less often than usual.

The outside area was super nice, with a clean pool and pleasant bar. The location was great, and I loved most of our stay of almost seven days. But having three kids in a dirty room for a week was very uncomfortable. The bathroom floor wasn’t cleaned once in those seven days, let alone the toilet or bathtub. The balcony and bedroom floors were cleaned poorly too. I recorded the cleaning and showed reception. They asked the staff to come back, but the second attempt was just as badly done. They did make the bed.

The pool is nice and large, and the hotel is comfortable and well located. The building feels dated and could use a facelift, and the common areas could be cleaner. Service was mixed, depending on who you dealt with and when. Check-out is very early, at 10am. We had fun with the DJ entertaining guests in the evening. Seems best suited to older travellers and families.

The hotel is two rows back from the beach, and the staff are kind. The kitchen is great, with plenty of variety, but the rooms need renovation. It would be excellent to have more organization for children. There’s a spa on the 7th floor, but the Turkish bath wasn’t working, only the Finnish one. From 21.07 to 26.07, the beach hosted an international fireworks competition.
