Camping La Masia

We were happy with the campsite itself: clean, tidy, and staffed by friendly people. The Eurocamp accommodation was below what we expected, though. We've usually been pleased with Eurocamp, so this stay was a surprise. I'd recommend the campsite.

The grounds are kept really well, and whoever looks after the pool toilets deserves a raise. They were sparkling. The central pool was a hit with the kids, but it gets so crowded that someone will probably land on you with a cannonball at some point. I also saw parents take toddlers in without swim nappies or even bathing suits, including naked babies, which I found unhygienic. There may not be enough lifeguards for the number of people. Maybe this is common practice abroad, or maybe I'm being a Ken. People reserve loungers with towels, but you can still usually find one. Food is hit and miss. The traditional local dishes were spot on: my wife enjoyed her paella, while the burger I ordered was undercooked. The kids menu was standard, and the children weren't fussy. The location is great, close to the beach, and the staff range from lovely to noticeably fed up. We arrived late and had to find our own rental because we'd booked through a third party, though the directions were good. The mobile chalet wasn't filthy, but it wasn't spotless either. Noise was a problem on most nights. The site is extremely loud until around 2am, and the quiet hours aren't enforced. A lot of the noise seemed to come from members of a particular "nomad" community, and I got the impression security were hesitant to confront them. The chalet was what you'd expect for what we paid, but I regretted going cheap. Kids will love the pools, but I have concerns about hygiene. This place seems like it may once have been a real gem, though its best years could be behind it. La Masia should be more selective about its clientele, enforce quiet hours, promote the pool cleaner to site cleaning manager, and remind staff that a smile matters. The job is to help people have a happy holiday. I wouldn't return unless those changes were underway.

Really nice place, well looked after and very clean. Lots for kids to do too.

We had an excellent holiday at La Masia. The facilities were excellent and the staff really nice. I travelled with small children, and there was very little entertainment for them. A regular kids' disco like at other campsites would have made it five stars for me.
