Los Chozos de Gredos

The washrooms were spotless, and the big, warm shared room with mountain views was a real help in the bad weather. We cooked there too, which beat relying on our little Campingaz stove. We spent just one night in a cozy chozo while passing through on a hike across Spain, and were the only guests. Remember to bring a lamp, since the huts have no electricity. It’s a lovely campsite in beautiful surroundings, and we’d like to return for a week when the weather’s better. There’s the Sierra de Gredos to explore, a nearby river for a swim with a bar and restaurant, or just a charming place to unwind.

The glazed dining room is a lovely spot for meals, a few drinks, games, and sunset watching. We stayed for a few days in this unusual, charming place. The Chozos are small shepherds’ huts.

A gorgeous natural setting, and a different kind of place to enjoy the outdoors.

Hot water was a problem. There was a brief spell of it in the afternoon, but the shower was very cold. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, and the sanitary facilities were clean.
