El Bulin de Braojos

The bedrooms were okay, and one was especially spacious, but the neglected state of the rest of the house really put us off. The shared area felt worn down, with grimy splashes and streaks on the walls that looked like they’d been there for years. The sofa was covered by a throw, but it slipped away as soon as someone sat down, exposing how awful it was. The other sofa is starting to peel as well, though this one is already past saving. The kitchen equipment was old and heavily worn, and food stuck whenever we cooked. The towels looked bad too, with some frayed and stitched back together. Even the bedrooms couldn’t make up for the condition of most things, so we wouldn’t come back. For nearly €500 for a weekend, this was unacceptable. I can’t recommend staying here until they repaint and replace the sofa. The house has plenty of potential, but it needs a lot of attention.

Casa Marta had a lovely big patio, with tables, chairs, loungers, a stone barbecue and even a heater for chilly evenings. Breakfast for the whole group was a thoughtful extra, and there was parking close by since street parking isn’t allowed. The house itself was beautifully decorated and had all the kitchenware, towels and large and small appliances we needed. It sleeps ten or more, welcomes pets, and can provide a crib and baby bath if you ask. Everything was fantastic. I’d happily return and recommend it.

The decorative touches are really nice, but the stained curtains and blinds, dirty walls, yellowed bedroom cushions, and torn, mended towels all need attention. We also found no tablecloth, no kitchen scissors and very little toilet paper. Those sorts of details really detract from the place. It needs more cleaning and maintenance.

We were comfortable during our weekend with friends, and the house was nice and warm when we arrived. The small breakfast items were a thoughtful touch. But the sofa bed was so dirty, covered with food bits, sunflower seeds, dust bunnies and other debris, that the person meant to sleep there couldn’t.
