Los Rosales Apartamentos

The place has an attractive pool of its own and sits near a small beach with the island's typical black volcanic sand. The apartments are simple and clean, close to the sea and local facilities, and on the 500 bus route between the airport and Santa Cruz de La Palma. Each unit has a small kitchenette, but I'd recommend the breakfast at the cafe in the neighboring complex. It's varied and good value.

We spent 10 nights at Las Rosales and really enjoyed our break in La Palma. The accommodation was clean and fresh, and the pool and gardens were very well looked after. It's a quiet resort, good for a peaceful budget holiday. Los Cancajos is a five-minute bus ride from the airport on the No 500, which costs Euro 1.37 each way. Santa Cruz is an easy five minutes by bus or taxi, or a 45-minute walk, our favorite, with a stop at a local cafe/bar along the way. Hire a car if you can, the island has so much to offer. A chaotic mess. The apartments are piled on top of each other to maximize profit, and the layout and condition of everything are BAD. Walls need repairs and paint, plants are dying, and some steps are faulty. The ocean views are nice, but you can get them almost anywhere on this island. The rooms are tiny, like shoeboxes, and filthy and rusty. They thought they could create a shopping district by putting stores in the lower inner apartments. Nothing is open there. The stores all ran away from a place that looks awful, expensive, filthy and like a death trap.

Apartamentos Los Rosales is on La Palma, about a five-minute drive from La Palma Airport and 7 km from Santa Cruz de la Palma. Los Cancajos Beach is only 400 metres away, and a bus stop and taxi rank are a one-minute walk from the property. There's free parking nearby. The simple apartments have bright decor, tiled floors and wooden furniture. Each has a balcony with either sea or mountain views, plus a living-dining room with a sofa and TV. Kitchenettes come with a microwave, fridge and hob. Safes can be rented, and laundry service costs extra. There's an outdoor pool among the gardens and loungers. Buffet breakfast is available for an additional cost.
