Hotel Rural El Vaqueril

We found this Hotel after seeing how booked up and overpriced Caceres was, and ended up loving it. The kids had a great time with the farm animals, and we really enjoyed the restaurant. Huge thanks to Andres and Ana for making our stay so wonderful. We'd definitely recommend it.

We were really looking forward to trying the restaurant, especially since we'd heard the food had a great reputation. But last night, our confirmed booking for six adults and two children didn't help, we were told they couldn't serve us when we arrived. Getting to the restaurant is already difficult, and at night with children it was especially uncomfortable. We left very disappointed. I hope they improve how they handle reservations so this doesn't happen again.

Our evening was lovely, and the setting was the highlight. You leave the main road, pass through farms and pastures, and reach an old cattle ranch house, a sort of farmhouse with several dining areas. One is set in a corral, which feels especially unique on a summer night. Food was good and portions generous. The only problem was waiting an hour and a half from arrival until the first course, apparently due to too few staff. Otherwise, everything was fine.

The food alone was a highlight: generous servings of home-style cooking made with local produce, good value, and breakfast with freshly made churros and natural honey from the neighboring farm. Everything felt carefully prepared. Ana and Andrés were another big part of the stay, running the hotel with so much warmth and attention. They were always ready to help, and their love for the place shows. Meeting them was a pleasure. We stayed over the May Day long weekend with my wife and our Labrador Retriever, and it was unforgettable. Our suite was spotless, spacious, and had high ceilings and thoughtful touches, almost like a mini-apartment. The rooms have modern comforts while keeping the authentic, stately feel of the U-shaped farmhouse. Outside, the setting is spectacular and peaceful, surrounded by nature. You can happily stay at the hotel, though there are also plenty of cultural attractions nearby, including villages, monuments, and natural landscapes. We'll be back for sure. Thanks, Ana and Andrés, for a stay we'll remember. Our only fault was that it passed far too quickly!
