Bulnes itself is lovely, though I felt the transport cost was far too high: €22 each. With four of us, that came to €88 for a 20-minute look around the little village. The train also leaves you a walk of about 10 minutes along a path, with some uphill sections. That part makes sense given the mountain location.

We were a group of eight and stayed three days, two nights. The manager really made the trip, so helpful and attentive. Breakfasts were outstanding, and the whole place was priced like a hostel. Everything was just right.

There are plenty of places to eat and have a drink in Bulnes, plus hostels if you need somewhere to sleep. The route from Poncebos has incredible views all the way and is highly recommended. If the hike feels like too much, or you're with little kids, you can take the cog railway for both directions or just one leg.
