Camping Fuentes Blancas

The site is in quiet woodland and well placed for a visit to Burgos. Reception was excellent and helpful, and the pitches were perfectly adequate. The shower block was clean and functional too, though it needs updating. There’s an excellent cycle path into the center of Burgos and a very handy bus from the camp gates, but it runs at limited times. A good place to stay while visiting the city, though it’s not the kind of site I’d choose as a destination in itself.

The welcome was friendly, and there’s a riverside route for walking or cycling that makes this a handy base for Burgos. The campsite itself is just adequate: many pitches get waterlogged fast, and there are no paths to the toilet blocks. Showers are okay, though the facilities need updating.

The main draw is how close this place is to Burgos, a brilliant city with loads to see and do and especially good food and drink. The site has that municipal feel you often find near city centres. Its facilities are a little dated, but they were clean and everything worked.

We enjoyed having the little bar and restaurant on site, especially with locals dropping in, and we ate there too. Burgos is an easy bus ride away, or a pleasant 3.5 km walk along the river. The pitches are broad and level, and the power was fine unless we tried to run too many things at once. Laundry was good, the outdoor washing-up spot was okay, and the dated showers and loos had hot water and decent pressure 😊
