Hostal Hilton

Those huge recycling bins full of glass bottles were emptied outside my window before 5am, for some reason. The decor is dated and badly needs replacing. It was mostly clean, though some light bulbs were missing, maybe to save electricity. The TV wouldn’t work and its remote was filthy. My room had no private toilet, so I used the shared facilities, which were clean but very small. The bedding seemed clean, though I didn’t look any further than I had to. There was a hand basin in the room. On the practical side, check-in was quick, the staff were great and smiling, parking was free with plenty of spaces, and the location seemed central. The price was so low that it cost less than buying McDonald’s for five of us. Still, the place felt like eating cold chips or touching a cold radiator. Even so, I’ll most likely stay again when driving through Spain. It’s cheap and just a couple of minutes from the main north-south motorway, so there’s not much of a detour.

Check-in is available around the clock. The low price makes sense, though, as it’s an old place that’s crumbling.

If you just need somewhere to sleep for a night, it’s fine. The rooms are really cold and the Wi-Fi doesn’t work. For young people it’s not so great, since even talking seems to bring complaints from the neighbours.

The room smelled bad and was dirty, and the staff weren’t helpful. This was the worst hostal I stayed in while in Spain.
