The Oca in Burgos cancelled our group booking of 16 rooms with just a month’s notice because the hotel had been sold. There wasn’t even an offer to relocate us or a single apology. I’ve worked in hospitality and have never seen such poor regard for customers. I’ll never work with this hotel group again.

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a really large, comfy bed. I’d been a bit worried after reading complaints about the showers and air conditioning, but both worked perfectly for us. The hotel is a repurposed student residence when there aren’t students, and it’s only a few minutes from the Cathedral.

Some places charge 50 euros for a single room on the Camino, even when it’s an old, worn, dirty semi-basement. The facilities there can be poor, too. For the same price, this place gave me a cleaner, sunnier, more comfortable space. I had a great two-night stay, and the location is excellent.

I had two nights booked for a family commitment in Burgos, but ended up stranded and had to find another hotel. I called about an hour before check-in at 6:00 PM to say traffic on the highway would make me a few minutes late. I arrived at 6:10 PM, and everything was closed. Nobody answered when I called, even after about 15 attempts, and I still haven’t got my money back. I’m going to complain as much as I can.
