El Trujal de las Bardenas

The shared kitchen and living room were a real plus, with lots of space to cook or just stretch out on the sofa. Our room was large, the beds were great, and the bathroom was a good size and very tidy. The garden was comfortable, too. This is a lovely new rural hotel, carefully renovated in a romantic old building. The host gave us tasty organic vegetables from his garden, including the reddest tomatoes I’ve ever seen. There’s plenty to explore nearby, including Tudela, where the tourist office on the main square can point out lots to see and do, and Bardenas Reales. A lovely stay.

The owners made us feel incredibly welcome, and everything was clean and new. It’s a special, beautiful place, with gardens all around the house, a courtyard with a fountain, and, of course, the olive press. It’s ideal for families, friends, or groups who want to be close to nature and still have everything they need.

The garden orchards make a lovely open-air setting, and the Bardenas are just a stone’s throw away. I’m from the area and rarely find a place like this. I was delighted by the warm welcome and hospitality. It’s perfect for hosting my yoga retreats: if the weather in the Bardenas isn’t great, there’s a large, bright, beautiful room with a bathroom and toilet, so everything can run smoothly.

We chose El Trujal for a weekend away with several families of friends, and it turned out to be a great decision. The house is lovely and comfortable, close to Cabanillas. We went on outings to Bardenas Reales, El Bocal, Tudela and other sights. The bedrooms have private bathrooms, and outside there’s a garden with a barbecue, fruit trees and a vegetable patch. There’s also a shared room with a kitchen, dining space and lounge. The service was excellent.
