We booked because of the good reviews, but the place was run-down and pretty awful. The rooms smelled of smoke and ash even though smoking wasn’t allowed. We tried several rooms because we had to move after finding the toilet and its door weren’t working. The staff were rude and brushed everything off. Then at 3 am, drains in the bathroom of the new room started making loud noises for an hour, and again the staff didn’t care.

Check-in was quick and friendly, and parking at the hotel was easy. The room was spacious and clean, the beds were good, and everything was in good condition. There was a kettle for making coffee and tea, and the bathroom had a shower, sink, and toilet. Breakfast had a good range, including quality fruit and eggs.

We’d happily stay again. The staff were courteous and helpful, and the secure parking was €15. We found the map to the old quarter useful, though my wife only stumbled across it in the bedroom. A few details could be better: the welcome card print was tiny, and the showerhead rail was so loose that raising it to wash my hair was difficult. The restaurant was closed on Sunday evening. Four stars feels about right.

The location is pleasant and breakfast has plenty of choice, but there wasn’t much else to like. The corridor carpets were dirty, the bathroom door wouldn’t shut, the toilet wouldn’t flush, and the lamp was out. There was also a hole in the bedsheet. It’s an adequate place, though it really doesn’t feel like a four-star hotel.

We were allowed into our room before the usual check-in time after arriving at 1 pm, and got upgraded to a suite despite the hotel being full. The buffet breakfast was comprehensive, and there’s private parking for €15 a night. It’s about a kilometer from the city center. A very efficient hotel, and one I’d recommend.
