Soho Boutique Casa Don Fernando

The bed was comfortable and the shower was good, but room 406 was a big disappointment. It had no windows and felt very dark when I walked in, with only one skylight. I was basically in the attic, among the roof rafters. The beams came down to about 1.3 meters above the floor, including one right outside the shower. I stupidly left my backpack by the chair and hit my head when I picked it up. Only did that once, thankfully. The worst part was that there were service and janitor rooms right next door and directly across the hall. Staff loaded their carts early in the morning and woke me up both days. I don't think this room, and maybe other rooms on the fourth floor, should be used unless the hotel is full. If they do use it, it definitely shouldn't cost the same. My third photo showed all the carts in the hallway, with my room last on the left. The fourth showed my room and the janitor closet across from it. After the hotel's response, I'm really surprised. They either ignored my 2-star rating and what I said about the room, or didn't understand the translation. Guests shouldn't be woken every morning by cleaning staff and carts outside their doors, especially with that low ceiling. I'm even more disappointed by the lack of a proper response. If you're given a room on the fourth floor, ask for another.

The location is great, though getting there by car can be confusing. Our room was well equipped but very hot when we arrived. It got better on the second day, but their “modern” system still left some guests sweating.

Great hotel in the best location, with a good breakfast, helpful staff, and somewhere to store my bicycle. But the air conditioner was set to heating only by the hotel and wouldn't cool the room. I can't understand why hotels decide what temperature a customer should be comfortable at. I found the room uncomfortably hot.

The balcony was really comfortable and had a great view. We loved the family room, which was more like a suite: a big bedroom with a very comfortable bed, plus a living room where the kids were happy on the sofabed. The bathroom area was delightful too. The kids loved the big shower and bubble bath and spent more than an hour in it when we arrived. This may be our new favorite getaway. We'll be back!
