ALBERGUE DE CALDAS de REIS Peregrinos y Turistico

The price was super cheap, so I can understand the quality to some extent, but this was perhaps one of the worse albergues I experienced on my camino. The staff were really friendly and spoke good English, and the location next to the historical bridge is great. Still, I tried not to spend much time there. It was cramped and not very clean, with a pretty dirty kitchen and almost no storage. The washing machine and dryer cost more than a nearby Laundromat. In my room for eight, the windows wouldn’t open, and the humidity and smell were next level. There was only one working toilet for each gender, too few for that many beds. The shower was inconvenient, and I waited five minutes for hot water.

The owner and staff gave great customer service. The place was clean, the rooms were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. One of the best hostels I came across while doing the Camino de Santiago, and a very pleasant stay.

The apartment had a shared flat kind of feel, and a few more kitchen chairs would have made it nicer to spend the evening together. It was a cute little place, though the dorms were a bit cold. There wasn’t much privacy or storage in the rooms, and having the showers and toilets in the same room was a little impractical.

The receptionist was helpful, spoke good English, and the service was good. The rooms were all right, but music from the venue next door played loudly late into the night and made sleeping difficult. I was there during the feast of the assumption, so perhaps that noise was a one-off inconvenience.
