Hotel Dwo Les Palmeres

The room service was very good, but I was disappointed that the room had no plates or coffee machine. I’d booked the same type of room before and it had both, so I don’t know if those things are no longer included. Dinner could get overcrowded, with groups and even people who weren’t staying at the hotel. I don’t eat meat, and it was hard to get good fish. Mostly there was tilapia and panga, while the sea fish ran out very quickly.

The room was clean and pleasant apart from two or three ants, the beds and sheets were comfortable, and the bathroom met our needs. Reception staff were nice and helpful, if sometimes a little uninformed. Housekeeping did a great job every day, and the spa was relaxing and well kept. One bartender was fantastic, maybe she was Colombian, though I’ve forgotten her name. She was a bright spot compared with colleagues who seemed not to be in the mood for customers. The food was edible, but not much more. Salmon was the only dish that stood out, and it was too salty. The meat was often burnt, dense, and much too salty. Breakfast bacon was soft and seemed like the cheapest pack from the nearby SPAR. Most days the food was basically the same, especially the rice, which was served in lots of ways but got bland and boring after two days. The sushi they tried at one dinner was a failure: it used the same rice as the other dishes, and deep-fried fish in sushi didn’t work for me. We were there for a week on the all-inclusive “Club Select” package and had plenty of meals, but were asked if we wanted a drink while eating only once. At check-in they said the “infinity pool” was open, but it turned out the season was over and it was closed. It’s just a rooftop pool anyway, with no infinity view. The bar was good, though Mojitos were the only cocktails we could get on all-inclusive. It didn’t feel like everything was included. Three stars from me because it was incredibly cheap, so my expectations were fairly low. I might come back if I want to visit Spain without spending a fortune.

We had a lovely four-night break, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and a lovely beach nearby. The roof terrace was fab for adults only and available to all-inclusive guests. We spent time there every day, and the infinity pool was a real bonus. Our triple room had lots of space for three adults, the beds were comfortable, and it was cleaned every day. We also got a lovely birthday gift for my friend. The rooms are a little dated, but worked well for our stay. There was plenty of food choice, it was lovely, and some dishes were cooked how you like. The hotel is lovely, and the staff were friendly and hardworking.

The tile floor meant we could hear every footstep and word from the room above around midnight. Nobody seemed to manage the loud guests in the hallways, and we couldn’t sleep.
