Summer Hotel

We were all inclusive, and the food was good and plentiful. We had a couple of drinks most nights and didn’t run into any issues. The rooms were cleaned daily, and the manager was lovely and attentive. Just keep in mind what you’re paying for. I travelled from Scotland with my Polish partner and had a great time. The hotel is close to the beach, shops, and town centre. It’s an 18-minute walk to the station, and we took the train to Girona and Barcelona without a problem. Tickets were only €12 per person. I’d recommend the hotel and area for a holiday!

The location was good, the room was nice, and the shower always had hot water. The bedding was clean, though I sometimes had to ask for towels. The staff and cleaners were brilliant, and the manager was good, though I think the owners may have put constraints on her. I stayed all inclusive for a week and got back yesterday, 22 Sept 2025. The food started off basic but good, then became a nightmare. People came to the restaurant to find empty food trays and no wine. The lady manager explained the reason, which I won’t share, and I accepted it. There still wasn’t much food on the last evening, so I ate a chicken schnitzel. That was a mistake. I was in bed all day on the final day, then spent a day at home with mild food poisoning, diarrhoea, and a high temperature. The cooks aren’t the best. I didn’t want to leave a review like this, but it needs saying. At best, this is a two-star hotel, despite its reputed four-star status.

Calella itself is very nice, and there were a few places nearby to go in the evenings. The hotel was clean and nice too, but we had to pay a tourist tax on arrival to get electricity. The food was repetitive, and the pool could have been cleaned more often. We also had power cuts that left us without electricity for about 20 minutes each time. It might suit an older couple, but I wouldn’t recommend it for family time or if you want to have fun. There’s no evening entertainment, and I don’t think I’d return to this hotel.

The rooms were tidy and clean, with daily cleaning, and the staff were brilliant. On my last day, the manager opened up a room so I could freshen up before my flight. Any problems were dealt with quickly and efficiently.
