We had a lovely few hours walking to Guadalest, and the woman we spoke with was pleasant and very polite. But when we pulled into the small car park, a staff member immediately told us we were trespassing on private property. We explained we were only out walking for an hour to see whether the area would suit a group of 20 hikers staying for a week next May. We hoped to return for a beer or two and talk with the owner about booking. There were at least a dozen empty parking spaces, and I understand there may have been a language mix-up, but we were still told we weren’t welcome. Such a shame. We won’t book next year and will look for other options.

The outside of the house looks really nice, but inside there’s no air conditioning, which is rough when it’s almost 40° in July. The garden needs attention too, and the outdoor area was dirty. And the pool, if you can call it that, isn’t somewhere I’d swim.

The setting is wonderfully peaceful, with clean air and a friendly owner. The rooms were very nice too.

One of the most memorable places I’ve stayed. I’d honestly give it 10 stars if I could.

Quiet, and a great place to stay.
