Hotel Plaza Mayor

The house we’d booked had been left destroyed by the previous guests. Francisco quickly found us another suitable villa, so we were able to get back to our holiday without much delay. Communication was excellent, and I’d use them again if I stayed in the area.

I travel to Calpe several times a year, and this was easily the worst place I’ve stayed. The apartment felt filthy as soon as I walked in: dirty terrace windows, an empty soda can by the bed, crumbs on the counter and table, and a floor that clearly hadn’t been swept. Worst of all, the towels and sheets had already been used by the previous guests. I complained to Plaza Mayor Real Estate, and their explanation was that an undocumented person had been staying there, so they left the apartment that way to make it look occupied in case of an inspection. It was a surreal and shameful response. The cleaning and management were appalling. I’ll never use Plaza Mayor Real Estate in Calpe again and wouldn’t recommend booking with them.

Paco treated us well when we arrived to collect the keys, but the villa at Partida El Sol 12A in Calpe was not as described. We stayed five days. The blinds were broken and wouldn’t lift, the old fans barely moved air, and the living room ceiling fan didn’t work at all. The sofa was stained and dirty, most window mosquito screens were broken, the pool was green, and the shower screen was broken too. We paid extra for a bed and a high chair. After many calls and repeated requests, they brought a mattress and a garbage bag with sheets. They also brought a high chair for our 13-month-old girl instead of the one we’d requested. We kept reporting the damage and were ignored. The service was terrible, and the agency’s response felt cold and unhelpful. They charged us right away, then seemed to stop treating us with respect. We won’t use them again, and I don’t recommend this real estate agency.

Can8A was a spectacular house near Puerto Blanco beach. The staff were there whenever we needed them, and we felt looked after throughout a pleasant stay. We’ll definitely be back next summer.
