Suites Roc Portonova

I can't remember staying somewhere with such poor service. In our newly renovated room, the bathroom door wouldn't shut, the air conditioning barely worked, and some of the electrical sockets were dead. Room service also kept forgetting to make the bed or bring fresh towels. We complained to reception and staff repeatedly, until they started ignoring us and insisting everything worked when it clearly didn't. A terrible experience. I wouldn't book here.

Breakfast was average at best, and there were a few little ants on the terrace. They don't bite and that's normal in a warm climate, so it didn't bother us much. The rest of our stay at ROC Portonova was fantastic. Our two-bedroom suite was spacious, stylish and in immaculate shape, while the pool area was gorgeous and the views were breathtaking. It was a brilliant base for our holiday, and we'd gladly come back.

The location was a real plus, with restaurants and shops nearby and a beautiful beach. We didn't get to use the pool because it closed too early. Our room wasn't like the one shown in the description, and when we asked, we were told the newer rooms cost extra, which felt a little sneaky. The AC failed on the first night, but a really nice repairman fixed it the next day. There were no sheets for the fold-out bed, either. Construction was going on, and we woke up to it the first morning.

The location is lovely, and once the renovation is finished I think this could be a nice hotel. We were put in an older room, which was fine, but I wasn't happy about the €200 deposit. We were tired after being up since 2am, so we paid after being told it would be back in our account at checkout. That was in June and I still haven't got it. I heard from guests in renovated rooms that they didn't have to pay a deposit, which makes this even more frustrating. All meals were served outside by the pool, which worked in the good weather we had but wouldn't be great in bad weather. I'm unhappy about not being refunded and wonder if this happened to anyone else. Be careful what you pay and who you pay.
