We booked at the last minute for one night before our ferry, even though I’m usually more comfortable with familiar hotel brands. I was pleasantly surprised by Hotel Nueva Plaza. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well equipped, and the hotel was very clean. The staff were welcoming and friendly with our children. There was a good range of breakfast options, too. Although it’s a three-star hotel, it can hold its own against some four- and five-star places I’ve stayed in around the world. Well done, Hotel Nueva Plaza.

The staff were kind and friendly, and we felt right at home. We had a lovely two-night stay in a spotless, nicely designed room facing the street. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.

We returned to Nueva Plaza Hotel when our ferry was unexpectedly cancelled. The agency we’d booked through hadn’t told us, and we were left stranded in the middle of Santander. The hotel found us a room for the two extra days we had to wait, without hesitation. We’d gladly stay again if we’re in the area. It’s a fabulous family-run hotel, and the staff really do make you feel like family. They were brilliant, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was good and filling, and cost just five euros. The only small snag was a bedroom floor that creaked a little, which is a small price to pay for such a friendly place and good value. Thanks to everyone at Nueva Plaza Hotel.

Handy hotel for an early flight, about four minutes by car from the airport. There isn’t much parking at the hotel and it costs €15, but there are spaces on nearby streets. Breakfast options are limited, though the staff are very helpful.

We were cycling to the airport the next day, and the hotel was happy to keep our bikes overnight. It was only a 2.5km ride the next day on reasonably quiet roads. The room was comfortable, the staff friendly, and breakfast was fine.
