Hotel Monnàber Vell

The spa was a highlight. My lomi-lomi massage was excellent, and they switched the saunas on just for us when we asked. We also enjoyed the food. Half-board was included, and breakfast had plenty of choice: cheeses and ham, fresh pastries, homemade cake, cereal, fresh orange juice, eggs, crepes, and usually about five kinds of fruit. To us, anyone complaining about the selection would have to be very demanding. We didn’t try lunch, though it was available. Dinner had a daily menu, with choices made before 3 p.m., usually 2-3 starters, two mains, and dessert. There were other fish, meat, or vegetarian options if the main dishes didn’t suit, and the dinners were consistently very good. We stayed from May 9 to 15 and found Monnaber Vell peaceful and romantic, with farmland and a strong agricultural feel. It’s a beautiful estate, not a modern hotel, and just right for slowing down and switching off from everyday life. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always smiling. Our room was cozy, very nice, and cleaned daily. Parking was easy. Wi-Fi and mobile service were sometimes unreliable, but we didn’t mind since we wanted to get away from technology for a few days. The surroundings were lovely for walks and relaxing, with hiking trails nearby. Guests could borrow bicycles free for one day, a nice bonus. On Thursday the owner told us some of Monnaber Vell’s history, which made the stay feel more personal. We also had a little wine tasting and food prepared for us. I don’t often revisit places because I like discovering new ones, but I can imagine coming back at least once. It’s a great fit if you’re looking for nature, quiet, romance, and genuine hospitality instead of a busy luxury resort.
