Hotel Fontsanta Thermal Spa & Wellness, adults only – Preferred Hotels & Resorts

The adults-only atmosphere made dining feel calm and special. At Fontsanta Hotel Restaurant, I was impressed by the peaceful setting, lovely surroundings, and quality service. The food was excellent too. I’d recommend it for a relaxed, refined meal.

The food was the standout for us. Every dish we tried was exceptional, and although it was pricey, the quality made it worthwhile, especially in an area with limited high-quality dining. The ceviche and steak were perfectly prepared, and breakfast was included, with a generous buffet as well as a made-to-order menu. We picked the property for its access to Santanyí, about a 20-minute drive away, while still feeling tucked away from busier areas. We had a rental car, so the distance worked for us. The grounds are stunning and well kept, and on-site parking was a welcome perk. Our room in the main building, where reception and the spa are, was clean and had evening turndown service, though we could hear other guests in the mornings and evenings. Something to consider if quiet matters to you. The outdoor pool area was pleasant and towels were easy to get. The spa felt a bit dated for a 5-star property, but it has a distinctive thermal area with multiple baths and a thermal pool, described to us as the island’s only thermal spa of subterranean origin. The dry sauna was excellent, well heated, and right beside an ice room. Bikes and beach bags are available, and we were told the beach is a 10-minute ride away. A beautiful property with a few areas to improve. The excellent dining and unusual thermal spa made the stay memorable.

If a quiet night’s sleep matters to you, think carefully before booking here. We had reserved a courtyard room and were given room n18, the first room in the corridor from the entrance and reception. At 11pm, noise from the entrance and corridor came through the door and kept us from getting an early night. The next morning, the receptionist’s phone and greeting of new guests woke us at 7am, then cleaning staff interrupted noisily twice before 9. When we raised it, staff said it was the room closest to reception, so some noise wasn’t unreasonable, though they said room n1 gets this complaint more often. There were no other rooms available, so they couldn’t move us. The next morning, we had the same fiasco while trying to move. That wasn’t the service or experience I’d expect from a 5-star hotel when reporting a problem. The rest of the hotel is lovely, with a great spa and restaurant. Mallorca has plenty of excellent 5-star hotels, and if you care about sleeping well on holiday, I’d suggest staying elsewhere.

The “private beach” linked to the hotel was a letdown. We rented a car and found it much more enjoyable to drive to other Cala’s nearby. Service could be slow, and staff sometimes seemed confused, but the property, pools, spa, and amenities were incredible. My husband and I stayed last July and had an amazing, relaxing time. The rooms and thermal spa are magnificent. I’d love to return!
