Caprice Concord Hotel & Spa

The showers were newly installed, but water flooded into my bathroom and into the rooms of several others in our group. It seems they weren’t tested after fitting, and the contractor may not have done the work properly. We had to use towels to soak up the water while taking quick showers. The hotel couldn’t move us and offered a box of chocolates instead. Paying full price for a room that flooded felt unfair. Otherwise, I had a great experience. The hotel is newly renovated and conveniently located, and the food and service were good.

The meals have been great, with lots of fresh choices, and we haven’t had a dish we didn’t enjoy. The gym is very well equipped. The pool is small, and entertainment seems to be at the sister hotel a minute away, where you can also use the spa. I can’t remember if this is an adults-only hotel, but we haven’t seen any children, which has been nice. It’s a beautiful, clean hotel with lovely staff and a lovely location. I’d recommend paying extra for a sea-view room. The town centre is a 20-30-minute walk along the promenade, with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Highly recommend for couples looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

We were hoping to enjoy more Spanish food and culture, but there wasn’t much chance. During our week, there was just one evening of Spanish music; the other entertainment leaned on English themes, with songs by ABBA, Queen and Pink Lady. We expected something different while holidaying in Spain. We tried using a few Spanish phrases and learning the language, but people often answered us in English, which made it harder to feel immersed. The location is excellent, right by the sea, and we were lucky to have a fantastic view from our room. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Dinner on our half-board package was quite basic, with limited options, and the entertainment overall felt lacking. The hotel has good points, but we would have liked more chances to experience Spanish cuisine, music and culture.

The beachfront is right behind the hotel, though there isn’t much nightlife or many restaurants within a short walk. The closest ones are about 20 minutes along the shore, which was disappointing. There is a row of souvenir shops, with welcoming staff, lovely products and good prices. For a quieter beach holiday as a couple, it’s a great place. I wouldn’t recommend it for young children, since the pool is quite small. We loved our stay. Reception staff were lovely, especially Nikola, who was bubbly and happy to help. Our room was nice and fairly spacious, though a bath would have been welcome. The food was really good, with plenty of variety; basics like pasta were there every day, alongside changing specials. Breakfast and dinner are at the hotel, while lunch is at the sister hotel about 30 seconds away. It’s organised well, but I wished the snack bar ran from 12 to 12 instead of 12 to 4, for more flexibility. Waiters were smiley and friendly, but sometimes struggled with English and cleared plates so quickly that meals felt rushed. I’d also have preferred a choice of dinner restaurants instead of one buffet. Thanks, Ferrer!
