Hostería De Cañete

It was out of season, though the weather was excellent for a walking holiday. We were with a coach party of English speakers. If we'd visited the hotel on our own, it would have been very disappointing, as nobody else was there.

The tour was enjoyable thanks to the group, guild, entertainment, and wine included. The hotel also made a good base for seeing nearby attractions. It's a typical Spanish hotel in a beautiful setting, though it could use some TLC. The food was very plain, with no vegetables or salads alongside the main course. The best meal was on an outing away from the hotel, at a log cabin where paella was made in an adjoining kitchen. We stayed two nights, which was enough for us. It brought back memories of my first Spanish holidays with my parents in the mid-70s.

The food was adequate, and the place was basic but clean. Staff were helpful. It's very well situated in the mountains, just a short walk from the local town. Thanks to our travel firm David's from Quesada for the trip.

We found this through the "Park 4 Night" app and decided to try it, though some of the earlier reviews left us unsure what to expect. The staff were better than pleasantly surprising, the food was good, and so was the bill. I can't speak to the hotel itself, but we had no complaints about parking our motorhome. Why would we, it was free!
