We’re still waiting for the refund for the second night we didn’t stay, though they told us they were working on it. The way the whole situation was handled was appalling, and we filed a formal complaint. We were traveling with our newborn daughter, and it was unacceptable to be treated that way. Customers who feel mistreated by this hotel or any other business should stand up for their rights and file an official complaint form, rather than only posting on social media or review sites. Customers deserve respect. The trouble started after we’d arrived and been given a room. At dinner, the manager told us we had no confirmed booking and had to leave because another reservation was expected for our room the next day. We were stunned. The discussion was very unpleasant, and she was completely unfriendly and unwilling to find a solution. We showed her on our phones the email we’d sent in reply to hers, confirming that we’d come on the date she offered. She said they hadn’t received it and still insisted we leave the next day. She gave us no other option, only calling one hotel in another town. With our baby, we couldn’t and didn’t want to argue much. We filed a complaint the next day because this treatment was unacceptable for any customer-focused business, especially a four-star hotel. Before that, we’d called in February to ask about March or April. We were told there was only one weekend free in April, even though we had an unavoidable commitment that weekend. When we asked how only one date could be available over two months, they said they had eight rooms, four allocated to Letsbonus, Groupon, and similar deals, and four for regular guests. We called again two days later. They said they’d email available dates because some bookings had been canceled. Both calls were curt, nearly rude, though not openly unpleasant. They emailed one date and asked us to reply if it worked. We did the next day and canceled an existing plan so we could go on the only date they offered. They never gave us the welcome gift promised on the booking voucher or mentioned it. The room itself was decent and the bathroom clean, but the hotel didn’t feel close to four-star standard. The radiator temperature couldn’t be controlled, so it was a bit cold at night. The lighting was poor and couldn’t be dimmed, the kitchen was adequate but very basic, there was a desk lamp being used as a bedside light, and the TV was very old. Those details are minor on their own, but don’t meet a four-star rating. What bothered us most was the unfair difference in how bookings with a Letsbonus ticket were treated compared with regular customers. That felt less serious than the way we were treated when the booking problem came up, but it was still unfair.
