Onmood Cala Ratjada - Bed & Brunch

The breakfast had variety and we enjoyed it, though it was a shame we had to eat in a dark room rather than on the rooftop terrace. The hotel's location is handy, just a two-minute walk from the promenade. The family room was basic and a bit dated, and the bathroom smelled damp and sweaty when we arrived. The receptionist was friendly and came to check it out. The rooftop is advertised as lively, but the bar is closed during the day and nobody is around. The organised parties start at 9 and finish at midnight, which is a bit of a shame. It worked for a weekend away, but I wouldn't stay longer.

The brunch runs from 8:00 to 13:00 and was delicious, with coffee and juice options, fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries, bread, jams, Nutella, cheese, meat, eggs, and more. The staff were lovely, WiFi worked fine, and the 24-hour reception made our early morning check-out much easier. There's also a luggage room downstairs, handy if your room isn't ready when you arrive or you need to store bags after check-out. For pool towels, reception can lend one for a €10 deposit, refunded when you return it. We booked with OnMood for our Mallorca holiday. It's right in the heart of Cala Ratjada, a short walk from the harbour and surrounded by shops. Parking around the town is free, which helped with our rental car. We got a friendly welcome and an explanation of what we needed to know. Water is available to guests in the lobby, along with toilets. Our room was on the third floor, reached by elevator. It was clean, with a very spacious bathroom, and we could choose between one double bed or two singles. There was air conditioning that worked brilliantly in the heat, a TV, and a clean balcony with a nice view of the square and harbour, plus a small table and two chairs. The balcony view was lovely. The double curtains kept the morning light out well. There was also a kettle and two mugs, but no tea or coffee, which was disappointing for a four-star hotel. A safe was available for €2 a day. The mini fridge was empty but worked fine for keeping our own food and drinks cold. If you have a rental car, keep in mind that the streets near the hotel are closed to parking from Friday 00:00 to Saturday 15:00 for the market outside. Cars left there get towed. Staff told us, and there were signs in the lobby, so we had no trouble, but it's useful to know in case you miss the notice. The main downside was the rooftop parties, Thursday to Sunday from 21:00 to 00:00. They fell during our entire holiday, so sleeping before midnight wasn't an option. Our room was directly below the roof, and it shook and vibrated all night. The parties did start and finish on time, though, which made it a bit easier to plan when to return.

The rooftop parties went on until midnight and were very loud at night. We parked in front of the hotel, but our car was towed because of the market on Friday night into Saturday. Nobody on the staff had warned us that we couldn't leave it there.

I stopped in for breakfast without staying at the hotel, and the service was fantastic. The staff were so kind and explained the menu really well, which made it a pleasant experience. For €10, I got muesli breakfast plus access to the open buffet with pastries, fruit, and coffee.
