There were plenty of hikers eating here before heading out for the day, so the atmosphere was great. I stopped with my hiking group before we climbed Mulhacen and had the traditional Spanish breakfast of toast with tomato sauce and olive oil, plus tea. It’s a cool spot for breakfast, and EUR 3.5 seemed very reasonable.

We had a lovely double room that didn’t feel like a typical hostal. It was beautiful, with a large clean bathroom, towels, and soaps. The heaters were already on when we arrived, so the place was nice and warm. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bus stop is about 10m from the front door, handy for an early bus.

A lightning storm stopped me from going up to the Refugio, so I stayed here overnight. The price was great, and the little room was clean and simple but well equipped, with a nice bathroom, good water pressure, and good WiFi. One thing to keep in mind: if you’re much taller than 180cm, the beds may be a bit short.
