El Dorado

We had a large triple room with sea views during our five-night stay. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was cleaned daily. The friendly, welcoming owner made us feel at home. We also used the shared lounge, which has a grand piano. It was low season, so we were the hotel's only guests. The hotel restaurant was closed, but there are plenty of breakfast places, tapas bars and restaurants within walking distance. A wonderful, relaxing stay. We'd highly recommend it.

We've been coming here for more than 12 years, and I hope we can return every year for another 60. The staff are so friendly, and the owner is absolutely amazing. They can't do enough for you. We even had our wedding here, and it was the best day of our lives. The food is amazing and the location fantastic. We try to get a sea-view room whenever we visit, though we love that every room has its own style. This hotel means so much to me, my partner and family. Thank you, El Dorado!

It may have been a pleasant place 60 years ago, when scenes from Lawrence of Arabia were being filmed, but now it feels worn out. The furniture is very dated and not always in good condition, the basin tap in our room wobbled precariously, and the shower curtain needed replacing. Wi-Fi was very hit and miss. There was nobody around at night, so no one was there to manage the kids enjoying themselves around the pool at midnight. We were told breakfast started at 8.00, but when we arrived exactly then, it looked as if a swarm of locusts had hit the breakfast bar. The reception staff were very friendly when we arrived, but the manager/owner couldn't have been ruder when we left. Fawlty Towers definitely came to mind. It is inexpensive, though, and the price arguably matches expectations.

Being right by the beach made this a great spot for a holiday, especially if you want time by the pool and the sea. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and our room was spotless with all the toiletries we needed. We'd happily come back and recommend it.
