Hotel El Prado

A really quiet place, good for a night on a road trip or a break from the big city. The nearby restaurant is good value and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Staff were great, friendly, and helpful. Rooms aren’t huge, but they’re super clean and usually have a third bed. Would definitely recommend.

I went in September and the establishment was completely empty. The service was poor, and they didn’t make the stay enjoyable or give customers a reason to return. It’s sad to see such a big pool and restaurant with no customers. They only offer the basics. The swimming pool was the only good thing, though the children’s pool was empty. Useful only as a place to spend the night.

Thanks for replying. To explain, the room was clean but seemed poorly maintained, with torn curtains, for example. It was cold, and the heating unit seemed to blow cold air instead of warm, so we switched it off. I would’ve mentioned it at checkout, but the hotel was deserted. Compared with the other hotels we stayed in, this felt like a 40€/night room, not 60€. Run down and expensive.

I just stopped for a coffee and a smoke on the long drive from Madrid to Cuenca. While I was at the bar, one regular was lounging comfortably and chatting away with the man who made my cafe con leche caliente. From somewhere in the back kitchen, I could hear his wife loudly telling him off, maybe about not forgetting something he’d promised to do.
