Hotel Rural Casares

The rooms are small, but clean, and the view of the village and surrounding land is wonderful. The place is right in the middle of Casares, and at the price they charge, I think it's worth staying here. Just be ready for the approach: the car park is about 3-4 minutes away, and the route is very steep, so getting luggage there isn't easy. Breakfast is very simple.

It's good value for the relatively low price, with no frills, friendly service, and lovely views. The rooms are old fashioned, which I liked, though I know that won't suit everyone. Ours was kept very clean. The location works well as long as you don't expect to park right outside: you'll carry your bags at least 100m, either up a steep street or down steep steps.

The location is stunning, among the Moorish cliffside buildings, and the castle is a surprisingly short, pleasant walk through that part of town. Check-in was confusing, there was no English, and the staff didn't seem especially pleased to see us. Apart from that, everything was totally fine. I could have stayed longer.

Casares is a lovely spot to unwind for a couple of days, so go even if you're not already nearby. The price was great, the staff were friendly, and the room had an excellent view. Then again, pretty much everywhere in Casares has a wonderful view.
