La Serrella was bright and roomy, with lovely mountain views, and it was spotless. We also loved unwinding with a drink on the rooftop terrace after a day out. Pilar cooked a great dinner every night and happily worked around my dietary needs. Breakfast brought fruit, jams and nuts from her family’s orchards, plus homemade yogurt, and she packed us a filling lunch for our hikes. Casa Pilar made our trip special. We stayed five nights and spent our days hiking in the surrounding mountains. Pilar and her husband were warm, generous hosts who are proud of their families’ long history in the town. The hotel is very well run. It began as Pilar’s family home more than 200 years ago, and has been modernized while keeping its historic character. If you don’t have a car, the hotel can arrange rides to and from Alicante airport or to trailheads. One day Pilar dropped us at a trailhead, and we walked back to the village. I’d absolutely recommend this lovely rural hotel to anyone visiting the area.

We felt at home at Casa Pilar and were sorry to leave. We spent three nights here during a walking holiday with InnTravel, and the weather was challenging, so we spent a lot of our time off the trails curled up in the upstairs sitting areas. There were sofas and tables for games, reading and drinks, as well as a small main-floor nook with a faux fire. In nicer weather, there’s a lovely terrace too. Our room had a large, comfortable bed, a separate sitting area and beautiful views. Pilar and Juanjo served delicious dinners downstairs in a quaint space converted from a stable. Breakfast was served on the main floor and was lovely, especially the homemade yogurt. Juan Carlos, their son, handled our taxi transfers. He was personable and fun to chat with.

A few wonderful days here on our walking holiday. Pilar and her family were so welcoming and helpful, and all the food was homemade and amazing. We had a great time and recommend it.

The hotel felt spacious and comfortable, with a lovely outlook over the mountains. Pilar and Juan made us feel at ease and were so attentive. They even went out of their way to help arrange excursions. We were lucky to find such a kind, professional couple. Breakfast was healthy, plentiful and excellent. We had a wonderful stay and hope we can come back someday :)

Juanjo drove me from the hotel to the start of a walk and was friendly, funny company along the way. Pilar was an excellent host and made superb home-cooked meals. Highly recommended.
