El Dúplex de la Puerta del Sol

For our one night in Madrid, this place had everything we needed and was great value. It's close enough to walk to restaurants, attractions, and a metro stop. Very nice hotel in a great spot, and I'd happily stay again.

For what I paid per night, the experience fell short, and I'd choose somewhere else next time. I stayed for two nights, and several things affected the visit: it was hard to reach reception by phone, basic amenities were missing from the room, and noise from the nearby elevator area was noticeable. We landed after a long flight and arrived at 14:30, but the room wasn't ready. When we came back at the official 15:00 check-in time, we still had to wait another 10-15 minutes for housekeeping to confirm it. Inside, the sheets were stained, and our room looked onto an indoor patio rather than outside. I was tired and didn't raise that at the time. The next morning I left at 09:00 and put up the “Please clean my room” sign. At 16:00, I came back to an unserviced room with unchanged towels. Reception sent housekeeping promptly after I called, but the new sheets were also in poor condition.

The location is unbeatable, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was huge, and the staff were very cordial. An awesome place to stay.

The building was lovely, and the location just off the center was perfect. My room was cleaned daily and had a comfortable bed, though it was a little shabby. Breakfast was very expensive, so I'd recommend getting BnB. I stayed 4 nights.
