We were tired and thirsty, but despite seeing locals having drinks and plenty of empty bar stools, we were told the bar was closed and that we’d have to sit at a table and order food. It would’ve taken seconds to open a few bottles and a packet of crisps. We’ve been impressed throughout Cataluña by how welcoming the hospitality staff have been, despite the tourist fatigue they must feel. Sadly, this place was the opposite. It does the region’s reputation no favors. We’re in the area, but won’t come back to eat here.

We weren’t allowed to order anything other than the menu, and drinks weren’t allowed.

We spotted the menu while walking through the charming village of Castellfollit de la Roca and decided to stop for lunch. The restaurant also has a guesthouse with rooms. The €18.50 daily menu was reasonably priced for the variety and quality, and included dessert and water. The food was exquisite, and the service was excellent. We were very well looked after. If you’re ever nearby, it’s well worth stopping for a meal.

For €18.50, the set menu includes a starter, main, dessert, wine, and bread. It was decent for the price, and we ate well, though the food was a bit greasy and nothing fancy. There was a good range of dishes to choose from, and the waiters were all pleasant and helpful. This tiny village is very quiet, with hardly anyone around.
