Duquesa Golf Club

We knew Duquesa Golf was still improving the course, but the layout is fantastic and we’re looking forward to seeing how it develops over the next six months. What really made the day was the welcome and service, along with the friendly staff, the menu del dia at the clubhouse, and the clubhouse itself. Manageress Ana sent us all a welcome email, which doesn’t happen often, and we felt special from start to finish. For the price, it’d be hard to find this level of service elsewhere. Today was the first meeting of our @fore_business golf society at @duquesagolf, launched near #sotogrande. Fore Business is the leading golf and networking society, with over 1700 members, so it was great to see it start here. Come join us! The clubhouse is actually really nice, but the course itself is awful and the mismatch is hard to ignore. The greens are uneven and damaged, in really poor shape and nowhere near what you’d expect. I wouldn’t recommend playing here. For another €30, you could play a proper course where the condition is worth the price.

The buggies were good, thank the lord, but that was the only bright spot. The fairways and greens were terrible, and the course was in awful shape. It would take a few million just to bring it up to a poor course standard. We wanted food and a drink afterwards because we remembered the food being good, but there was no hospitality from the staff. Ground staff were eating at the clubhouse tables, and the only two tables left had a tiny scrap of paper marked “reserved.” They can spend as much as they like on the renovation, this place will still be a joke. The other reviews show that too. We played here last year on holiday, and it’s 100% worse now, though I’d thought that would be hard to manage. We booked ahead with the pro shop for today. The so-called rental sets cost around 40 euros each, but weren’t full sets, just a few clubs, with some more salvaged from lost and found. Men got ladies’ clubs, some bags had left-handed clubs, and one even had a junior club. Are you for real? If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is a complete GOAT TRACK.

We only went to play golf. The course was challenging, with its layout and improvements underway on many holes, but we could see its beauty too. We’d like to return once all the work has had a chance to show its results.
