Hotel El Haya

The place was lively at the bar in the evening, and breakfast the next morning came with great food and coffee. I didn’t eat at the restaurant, so I can’t speak to that. On arrival during the day, it looked a bit like a scene from a modern Clint Eastwood western, but we got a warm welcome and a lovely, spacious, well-presented room. Mine even had a nostalgic avocado bathroom set, brilliant. There was a lot of noise, with people coming and going through the night and early morning, probably because of the gas station next door and its popularity with locals and passing workers. Still, drop in for a stay, settle at the bar, and enjoy the evening.

We stopped for a light lunch and got some good coffee and a couple of great sandwiches from the kitchen. There was hardly anything vegetarian on the menu, if anything at all, but they sorted us out. It’s an interesting place without a touristy feel, and the views across the road are amazing.

There’s a restaurant and gas station right next door, and the staff were friendly. It was the best choice in the area, and handy for an overnight stop while passing through. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is the lack of air conditioning.
