Pensión "La Marina"

The room was very comfortable, and the location by the Marina is probably the best in town. I was happy to find this neat, clean hotel at a very affordable price when the albergue for pilgrims was crowded. The Lady who welcomed me at the restaurant was kind and accommodating. Since I was staying just one night, she gave me the only room available, a three beds room, at a good price. I was very satisfied and couldn’t ask for more.

At least the location is good. Otherwise, this was by far the worst place we’ve stayed on the Camino in over 600 km. We paid 40 eur for a "double room" with a bed too short even for my 160 cm tall girlfriend. There was only one towel, a dead cockroach on the floor, and mould all over the shared bathroom. We were careful not to touch anything.

This place had a horrible Fawlty Towers atmosphere. The shared bathrooms were dirty and dingy, the decor looked at least 50 years out of date, and the old beds creaked. The sheets were so grubby and worn that we used our sleeping bags instead. We were travelling as pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, and I’ve stayed in pilgrim hostels that were cleaner and more comfortable. Having to pay at the door before we went inside meant I couldn’t just leave for somewhere else. Never again.

One of the worst places I’ve stayed. It was dirty, very noisy, and the sheets smelled of cigarette smoke. From 4:30 a.m., guests or someone else kept walking noisily along the corridor and opening doors. The doors to all the rooms and bathrooms were partly broken, which made the noise even worse. There’s no sound insulation, so the first person up woke everyone.
