Quinta San Francisco

Lavender plants surround this tranquil resort, right beside a charming, quaint town. We had a simple but scrumptious dinner, then enjoyed the relaxing spa, inviting patio, and picturesque outdoor spaces. A real charmer, and one we can't recommend enough.

Our room was beautiful, with lovely linens, towels, and bathroom products, though the twin beds were a bit small. The converted convent was so peaceful and quiet that it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. There was a handy honesty minibar at reception and a lovely, homely lounge. We ate at the hotel that evening. It suited our needs, though the meal was probably a little expensive.

We arrived as a family of four, two adults, a baby, and a four-year-old, and Hotel Quinta San Francisco was the perfect stop on our journey through northern Spain toward Santander. After a day of travel, I felt calm as soon as we got there. The place is beautiful, the lavender smells lovely, and the staff are kind. There's a nice balance of old and new here, and a real sense of integrity. I can't wait to come back.

The grounds are pristine and the hotel is beautiful, but it isn't equipped for summer heat. None of the rooms have air conditioning, and I was extremely uncomfortable during the two days I stayed. It was unbearably hot, so we had to find places outside the hotel to cool down. At this standard and price, that just isn't acceptable. I'd actively discourage people from staying between June and August, especially anyone with respiratory problems. I was really looking forward to the stay after reading so many positive reviews, but they aren't being honest about serious flaws that could ruin the experience.
