Breakfast had so much choice that it kept us going all day. After dinner, the lounge was a lovely place to sit, especially with their own local vermouth. You have to ask for it specifically, but it’s worth it. We stayed three nights in May 2025, and the setting made a great first impression. The hotel still felt remarkable despite the creaky floors and worrying toilet flush. We knew a refurbishment was planned for late 2025, and the bedrooms and bathrooms clearly needed it. There was some tension among the waiting staff, which took away from the experience a little. Perhaps the upcoming closure was weighing on them. We managed it with friendly humour, and one waiter in particular was easy to approach. When he was on duty, meals felt relaxed and enjoyable. We’d love to come back and enjoy the facilities again.

The Terrace was fantastic, though the menu could use more variety. Our room was lovely, with a balcony, and everything was very clean. There was also plenty of safe parking.

The short-haired woman working in the restaurant was incredibly rude. That management still hasn’t fired her says a lot about them. It’s a disgrace. The Parador sits in a stunning location, and once it’s renovated, it should be a comfortable hotel.

The vegetarian menu is a real problem if you’re staying half-board. There’s only one starter and one main, so if you eat there twice, the choices haven’t changed. If you don’t like them, you’re left hungry. Vegetarians aren’t respected in Spain. The building itself is great, in a beautiful setting, and the staff are pleasant. The rooms are good too, but the wooden floors in 315 and 316, probably the others as well, creak ridiculously loudly. A trip to the bathroom lets everyone nearby know, and vice versa.

Oh my goodness, I almost don’t want to say anything about this beautiful Parador or its setting. If you’re walking, or touring by motorcycle or car, this has to be a stop.
