The shared bathrooms and showers were good, the towel was provided, and the bed sheets were clean. Wi-Fi was fast and there were outlets by the bedside table. The owner charged laundry by the garment, which seemed expensive. Cleaning staff came to make the bed around midday even though we hadn't asked. At first glance this is one of the cheaper places in Ceuta. We paid €37 a night for a room with two single beds and shared bathrooms, and could pay by card without an extra charge. But the owner asked for €16 to keep our bicycles inside, €4 per bike per night, which seemed ridiculous. They try to charge for every extra. The owner speaks no English or French, so brush up on Spanish. The owner is a bit of a control freak, with rules about just about everything. You're technically not allowed to eat in your room, though I don't think they can enforce that behind a closed door. We ate full meals there without trouble, just keeping quiet and not making a mess. Guests also have to be buzzed in and out at all hours because they don't trust people with the front door. Seven of us were locked inside for a few minutes before staff buzzed us out. That seems unacceptable from a safety point of view, in case of fire. It's too bad. This place could easily be five stars if the owner weren't such a cheap control freak and treated guests like adults, with the kind of service you'd expect from any other hotel.

The beds were comfortable, and the place was good value with a great location. One issue: we couldn't use the courtyard table for dinner, so we improvised with a chair and ate sitting on the beds. Management could add a small folding table in the room or give guests another place to sit in the courtyard if that table isn't available to them.

This is just the kind of budget place I want as a solo traveler. My single room was small, with an attached bathroom, a bed, desk and chair, nightstand, wall hooks, and a tall cabinet with shelves. There was plenty of hot water, and Wi-Fi measured 7MB down and 18MB up, fine for most things. It's outside the center, though the walk downtown is pleasant. Buses three and five stop by the big Carrefour when you're coming back, and the ferry is close enough to walk to with a backpack. With my wheeled suitcase, I wisely took a taxi. Food isn't allowed in the rooms or public area. My main gripe was the lack of air-conditioning or heating. Two other similarly priced hotels I've stayed at recently in Spain had them, and in January my room was very cold. They did give me an extra blanket when I asked.
