Hotel Boutique Aroma de Mar

The rooftop bar and restaurant are romantic and special, definitely worth experiencing. We loved our high-tech room and its one-way window looking out over the beach. It was chilly and windy one night, but we could still enjoy the view from inside. The room also had a little fridge, essential in low season, and a coffee maker. The hotel feels laid-back and personal on arrival, with lovely, helpful staff. What a beautiful beach and sunset setting. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to return next year and see the places we missed xx.

The people providing service were great, and so was the location, but the room and hotel services felt like a one-star place at best. The room was very small and had no kettle or fridge. The air conditioning dripped water, and reception closed after 10 p.m. We found small cockroaches in the room and hallways. To be fair, the room was clean and it was their season in the area, but it's still not ideal to find them.

The rooms are cramped and noisy, and the view is of a construction site. It looks nothing like the pictures online.

The sofa bed was dirty when opened, with dirt and someone else’s hair on it. It was also so close to the entrance that once our child was asleep, there was no way out, which seemed dangerous in case of fire. We hadn’t been given a towel or water for the child, even after asking. The mattress was comfortable but got very hot, as though there were a plastic cover under the sheet. At night the fridge was loud, and we could hear pipes whenever the guests upstairs used the bathroom. The TV kept stopping because the internet connection was poor. The bathroom felt like one in a hospital for disabled people. The shower was right in the room, leaving the whole floor wet and slippery, and the broken shower head sprayed water in every direction. It was sticky and humid, and the window wouldn’t open. The room itself was stuffy, sticky, and unpleasant smelling. The air conditioning couldn’t be adjusted, it was either on or off, and it didn’t work with the window open. We couldn’t sleep all night. The light from the switches was also so bright that sleeping in a dark room was impossible. The view was only of the sea if you stood up. Seated, all we could see was a wall, and if we opened the window for fresh air, people walking by the hotel could see straight into our bed. We’d booked a room with a view and sofa bed for our child, expecting a four-star experience. The hotel couldn’t sort out its booking problem and tried to make it ours. We lost 40 minutes of our precious sunset time standing at reception while they made us wait. After a sleepless night, the next day was ruined. We’d been excited to find this lovely looking hotel on booking, so it was a big disappointment. The staff tried to sound friendly, but showed no sympathy or understanding. We didn’t feel welcome at all, so we cancelled breakfast and lunch.
