Cortijo Del Pino

We stopped here while travelling around southern Spain, and Concha’s lovely little farm was such a highlight. Everyone was super friendly, and we could pick any fruit or veg for free during our stay. The pool was great too. You get a rustic farmhouse feel with a bit of luxury, and the city is only about a 10 minute drive away. I honestly can’t praise the place enough.

Getting to Granada takes about 15 minutes by car, and Sierra Nevada is around 50 minutes away. There’s plenty of parking, though the last couple of hundred metres from the main road are on a dirt track with big potholes, so drive slowly. We were there in February, and the floor heating made a big difference since the stone floor would otherwise be very cold. Our one room apartment had a nice fireplace we were allowed to use. The bedroom is open to the living room, just one floor up. Each apartment has an outdoor sitting area with evening sun, but the spaces aren’t divided from each other. To reach some flats, you have to cross another flat’s outdoor area. The hostess was very nice and helpful.

The apartment was great, and its kitchen was the best we had on our trip in España. I’m from farm stock, Denmark by way of California, so I loved staying on this working farm. The generous family has been working this land for four generations. What a wonderful experience.
