Posada del Indiano

The most disappointing part was the dinner advertised when we booked as a duck-themed gourmet meal. At 37 Euro/head, we got a slice of cheap duck pâté per person, which I recognized from a nearby supermarket shelf and later saw priced at 3,20€. The main course was microwaved duck confit with hardly any sides: one duck leg shank, three grape-sized overcooked potatoes and the same number of cherry tomatoes each. The red wine was a downright bad 4.50 Euro bottle from the nearest Mercadona, with the Mercadona brand printed on the back. There was also a homemade mixed salad with lots of greens, but its bottled dressing seemed to contain industrial mayonnaise, and a cream cake that I couldn't finish because I don't like cream. It felt like a sham. I only sat through it because my wife did everything she could, and then some, to make the best of things. We later learned the establishment doesn't have a licence to cook anything, not even the hard-boiled egg that was missing at breakfast. We didn't eat breakfast there. Sleep there, but don't eat there. As for the accommodation, we agreed with many of the positive comments about the setup and decoration. It's a rather unusual place, filled with vintage bric-a-brac. The library has a pool table in excellent condition, plus a self-service open bar on trust: you choose from exactly one beer, several sodas and hard liquor, all at room temperature, then report afterward what, if anything, you drank. Our room was sunny and had a large bathroom with a vintage look. Things seemed functional until we tried to open the curtains and the whole curtain bar came crashing down, including the curtains and wall anchors. The bath's splash guard also couldn't be positioned to keep water off the floor. Those details stood out, but they weren't enough to justify another positive review of the Posada del Indiano.

The place is clean, with an interesting design and a good breakfast, but don't expect a five-star hotel. The bathroom could use some improvement, and there's no air conditioning or fridge.

Good for a short stay. The room was clean, the service was nice, and both the staff and management were good.
