NH Ciudad Real

The rooms were great, clean, and the staff were very polite. The location could be better, but I can't really complain.

During our 18-day trip around Spain, this was easily the best hotel we found for about the same price. The room was excellent, the breakfast buffet very good, and the front desk staff were genuinely friendly. There's a garage, and you can walk to the cathedral, theatre, and other city attractions. I'd highly recommend it.

We stayed on 18th April and came away really disappointed. There was black mould in several places in the shower, which was disgusting. We also ate at the restaurant, where the chicken burger had an incredibly thin piece of meat. It just wasn't a good experience.

The staff were friendly and keen to make our stay pleasant, but the room and facilities fell well short of what I expect from a 4-star hotel. The bathroom had mould in the bathtub corners and on the shower screen, plus swollen wood where the door frame meets the floor. The view was just deteriorating plaster on another part of the building, and the elevator was clearly worn and old. The underground parking was in dire condition. The lobby looks pleasant, the outside presentation is good, and the room size was satisfactory. Still, based on this stay, I'd say 2 stars would be more justified than 4. The bathroom issues led me to leave after two nights of the three I had booked. I hope the hotel deals with these problems and meets its 4-star standard.
