We had been looking forward to staying here, but the communication and service were deeply disappointing. Our flight was due to arrive around 22:00, so on the day we travelled the hotel messaged us on WhatsApp to set up contactless check-in. After we boarded, French air strikes forced our flight back to the gate and it was cancelled. We promptly let the hotel know through WhatsApp, but got no answer. When we called, they gave us another staff member’s contact details. That person first said we had to arrive in person to get any service, then sent a message and quickly deleted it before we could read it. We heard nothing more. We’d booked the room that same morning, when there were plenty available, yet the hotel seemed unwilling to help or find a solution. It was upsetting to miss the stay because of circumstances outside our control and then receive such poor service.

Bernard is a super host, and even took care of my bicycle. Breakfast and service were top notch. I was after a small, characterful boutique hotel in Ciutadella, and Balear was just that. My double room worked perfectly for me as a solo traveller and for my bike, though it might feel tight for a family. One small issue: the outdoor sign could be easier to spot. I cycled past it a few times when I first arrived. I loved the place and would definitely return.

It’s an easy nine-minute walk into town, and the street is quiet enough that we could leave the windows open at night. The people who run Balear clearly care, and the staff were kind and looked after us at every turn. Rooms are bright, clean and simply done, and breakfast has been thoughtfully put together. One of my favourite places lately, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

The people here have such lovely, positive energy. Everyone was kind, generous, thoughtful and ready to help. The hotel is also spotless, comfortable, spacious and well located. If I’m in Menorca again, I’m coming straight back here. Gracias por todo, espero verlos de nuevo pronto! 💙

Really awful experience. I got what felt like a threat in a private message because I told the truth. The breakfast didn’t look like the photo. During my six nights there, they started taking away the fruit and other food, as if they were being stingy with it.
