Desmais Apartments

We enjoyed our six nights here. It’s a basic place in a lovely, quiet spot, with pretty views over the reserve. The pool was peaceful and very clean. The hot weather didn’t make the lack of air conditioning a problem for us. There’s a fan, but we never needed it. I’d probably arrange the living room differently, though we still enjoyed staying here. If stairs are difficult for you, ask for apartments 1-8, as the others are quite far up. You’ll get fitter, though!

The flat is a good size for a couple, and the location works well for walking to the beach or going out to dinner. But the apartment was extremely hot, with just one noisy fan for the whole place. I’d booked a flat with air conditioning, but there wasn’t any. We asked for a second fan and were told there was no option for one. It was 35 degrees, and the old fan wasn’t enough. I asked politely to cancel because the promised air conditioning wasn’t there, but the owner refused. The facilities were poor too. There was no coffee, salt, water, or welcome kit. One roll of toilet paper for three people for six nights was funny, though you could get more when reception was open from 10-12 and 16-18, not very handy if you plan to be out all day. The internet and TV signal were very poor. The apartment wasn’t very clean, they didn’t change towels or sheets, and the sofa and dining chair cushions needed washing. It felt like they were saving money on every little thing, which got annoying. The owner didn’t seem to care about the guest experience. At this price per night, I’d suggest finding an option on Airbnb.

The microwave and air conditioning didn’t work, and the balcony door wouldn’t lock. Peaceful? A petrol leaf blower was going round before 11am, blowing leaves.

The location is really quiet and peaceful, with restaurants, supermarkets, and the best beach all within walking distance. The air conditioning worked great in apartment N13.
