After a tiring five-hour drive on a hot summer evening, we were met by the most unfriendly, unwelcoming receptionist I’ve ever encountered. I say that having worked in hospitality for many years. Our room, 222, was very small and basic, which we could manage, but the garden view we’d been promised when booking was blocked by a shutter we couldn’t open from inside. The next morning I struggled to open the window enough to let in sunlight and see the view. It soon became clear why it had been made so difficult. The pictures speak for themselves. Steer clear of Casa Jose Diaz in San Augustine de Guadalix. We stayed on 20 July 2025.

We booked this hotel while travelling from the UK to southern Spain. They accepted my booking and took 145 pounds, but when we arrived, they refused us because we had a small dog, even though some websites said they were pet friendly. Now I can’t get my money back because they say it’s my fault. The receptionist was rude and told us to leave.

My room at Hotel Casa Jose Diaz was comfortable, clean, and very good for the price. Nothing fancy, but it had everything I needed, and the bathroom was new. I was exhausted and just needed to get off the road and into a decent bed. I’d absolutely stay here again.

The beds were nice and cosy, and the bath was great. Showers and toilet use were quite noisy, maybe because of the pipes in the wall. But the complimentary breakfast coffee was some of the best I’ve had, and the great value made up for the noise.

I’m from New York City, and this place is beautiful. The pictures don’t do it justice. It’d be perfect for any event you want to celebrate, and it’s a must-see. Come see it for yourself. I’ll stay here every time. Thank you.
