Comares is well worth a stop if you're around Axarquia or nearby. It sits high in the mountains northeast of Malaga, about an hour's drive from the coast, and the views are spectacular. They've added some lovely walls and viewing platforms in recent years. Wander through town, head up to the castle area, then enjoy a drink in the little square. Such a lovely place to visit.

We had lunch at the hotel in the square in lovely weather, and it was really nice. Comares itself is a beautiful town, perched on top of a cliff, with a footprint trail you can follow around.

The views are fantastic from every lookout point. The entrance to Comeres has also been improved with a series of arches and castle-style battlements.
