I slept like a rock, with no street noise thanks to the excellent window soundproofing. You can occasionally hear people in the hall because the walls are a bit thin, though. The room was surprisingly spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Staff were wonderful and accommodating, and I’d happily stay again. The location is hard to beat for the quality and price, with El Retiro Park, museums, and plenty of places to eat just steps away. Metro and bus connections are good too, though the area is so walkable you may not need them.

Stays Atoch would be my choice again if I return to Madrid. The rooms were clean and tidy, and had a kettle, coffee, tea, and everything needed in the bathroom. The website photos accurately showed what the rooms are like. It was an especially good stay for such an affordable price, with friendly service. The check-in guidance was very clear, and after checkout I could leave my luggage and use the coffee point for extra time. Another big plus is the location: a 4min walk from the railway station and bus 203, which gives a direct, fast connection to the airport. The main sights in Madrid are 15min away on foot.

I paid $100 for a stay I couldn’t use, and the hotel wouldn’t help. The night before I was due to arrive, a deadly train crash disrupted my route to Madrid, and buses and trains weren’t running normally. My Expedia booking was non-refundable. I asked the hotel to cancel, but they refused a refund. Expedia contacted them about the emergency too, and they still wouldn’t make an exception. I arrived 48 hours later and asked if I could use the booking that night. Again, no flexibility. They said, "there are other ways rather than train to get to Madrid". That was just rude. I wouldn’t stay here. They weren’t kind or accommodating, and I hope nobody else has trouble getting to the hotel and ends up in the same position. I’m sure they’ll give their side of the story, but I hope you don’t suffer the same fate.

For the price, the 'Tiny' was worth it. It was indeed tiny, but had what I needed: a good shower, hairdryer, kettle, and TV. The walls are thin, so some noise gets through. It’s close to the city centre and Madrid’s main attractions, within a 20-30 minute walk max, and there are several metro stations nearby.
