Pierre & Vacances Comarruga

The apartment was roomy, and the balcony with its amazing sea view was a highlight. Staff were friendly and helpful. It wasn’t especially fresh inside, and the sofa was a bit dirty, but for what we paid it was still really good value. A good choice for a big family. We loved it.

Comarruga was quiet while we were there, just as we wanted. We didn’t hear another English voice until our third day. I’d happily come back and recommend the place. Our balcony looked over both the pool and the sea. The pool and surrounding area were very clean, and even when more children arrived there was plenty of room. At first, we were almost the only two people there. There’s a pizza place right next door that opens a window onto the pool area, where you can get food, drinks, and ice cream. The apartment was lovely. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve had on holiday, and the shower was fantastic, with proper pressure. Those are the two things that matter most to me, and both were just right. Maya at reception was lovely and very helpful when we checked in that morning, which went smoothly. We arrived around 11:30 p.m. after our first taxi from Reus airport took us to the wrong Pierre & Vacances, the one in Salou rather than Comarruga. We had to take another taxi. The directions reception had emailed earlier that day for finding the keys were spot on, so we got in without trouble and went straight to bed.

After a string of staff failures left me unable to get into my booked apartment, I finally reached my room at another hotel at 11:30 p.m., two and a half hours after arriving. I’m appalled by how I was treated and haven’t even received an acknowledgment or apology. I’d never book with this apartment again. If you arrive outside reception hours, beware. You could be left waiting on the street, hoping someone answers. Avoid it. I’d told them in advance I would arrive after reception closed at 8 p.m. They said it was fine and promised to send codes for the key access. We spoke by phone the day before and they confirmed again, but no codes came. Two hours before I arrived, I messaged to ask for them and got no reply. I reached the apartment at 9 p.m. and called the advertised 24-hour number, but nobody answered. After 20 unanswered calls, I was stuck outside with no way to contact anyone or get in. Thankfully, I’d booked through booking.com. They also tried and failed to reach the apartment, then moved me to a different hotel.

The apartment had a kitchen and was really spacious, with a sea view from the balcony. The interior wasn’t the most modern, but everything was clean and worked fine, so it was great value. Getting to the beach took hardly any time, and there were handy showers right outside the building. The pool was a short 2-3 minute walk around the parking lot, with a nice place to relax nearby. We had a lovely, laid-back holiday.
